    @birdbrainxzx. Well you have to add it together in stead of 1 1/2 you would use 3/2

    Good, but now Mathprint OS has saved us.

    @KTMNick87 that’s why i kept my ti-36x after I got the graphing. the 36 can do mixed numbers, convert them back and forth to the un-reduced fraction, back and forth between decimal and fraction…and the keyboard layout is so simple. it just doesn’t do graphing.

    @aborne Doesn’t that defeat the point of a calculator? It is to make math easier, and actually, my teacher has a program that downloads to it. Then it can do fractions.

    To do mixed numbers on a TI-83 or TI-84+ all you would have to do is something like (5+(3/4)). You can also go to TI’s website and there is a new OS for the calculators that will allow you to enter fractions and mixed numbers in.

    what about mixed numbers?

    @KTMNick87

    I’m just trying to figure out this calculator so i can do my homework!!! >:-| This did nothing for me.

  11. KTMNick87 Says:

    how would you enter say 5 1/2 ? or any whole number and then a fraction?

    Thanx ur a great help 5*

    Sadly, no it is not possible to do what you’re asking. While the answer sqrt[30] / 3 is a fraction, it is a really an irrational number, which the TI-83/84 line is not designed to output exact answer.

    The TI-89 series or TI-nspire CAS can do it. I guess they figured it would cheat you out of some good lessons if the calculator always delivered the answers is perfect symbolic form.

    Im trying to do something like
    Tan(pie/6) [in radians] ….now the answer = .5773502692……which is [Root(30/ 3]

    Is it possible, to set it up..so when i do my Tan equation..i get the answer in fraction form? Because that would help me a lot more than decimal

    the book that came with my ti84 did not explain it this easy
